Taking Sites Online / Offline

Manage a site’s visibility by taking it online or offline, allowing you to control when users can access it without deleting any content.

Taking a Site Online

To take a Content Lion site online, select a site on the Sites page and click the Online/Offline button, which resembles a power symbol.

Choose whether to serve the site at an auto-generated service domain—best for testing and previewing online site content—or on a vanity domain for a production-ready, branded URL. Click Bring online to start the process of making the site visible to it’s intended audience.

Before taking a site online, ensure:

  • The site is fully configured
  • Verify that all required content and assets are published
  • The site is displaying correctly when previewed

Taking a Site Offline

Taking a site offline removes access to the site while keeping it available for editing and maintenance.

To take a site offline, select an online site on the Sites page and click the Online/Offline button. Confirm by clicking Take Offline to begin the process.

Key Notes About Taking Sites Offline:

  • Taking a site offline does not delete the site or its content
  • Publishing content alone does not make a site visible; the site must also be online
  • Site online/offline status is separate from content publish status
