Grouping Users
Groups are collections of users. They can be created at either the Den level or within a Mane itself to give appropriate access to a set of Mane users at one time.
The Benefit of Using Groups in Content Lion
Groups are an effective way to provide access to a large number of users simultaneously. Rather than performing access management tasks for each individual user, you can streamline the process by setting access at the group level and simply and or remove users as needed.
How to Create a Group
At the Den level:
- In the left side navigation menu, click User Management and select the Create New Group in the top right of the screen
- On the page, fill out the group details:
- Create a group name
- Select Mane users to add (users have to exist in the system already)
- Select the Mane to apply this group to
- Check all group roles for this group
- Click Save
At the Mane level:
- In the left side navigation menu, click User Management and select the Create New Group in the top right of the screen
- On the page, fill out the group details:
- Create a group name
- Select Mane users to add (users have to exist in the system already)
- Check all group roles for this group
- Click Save
Important Considerations for Group Creation
- All groups automatically have Enterprise access to their Mane. This is by default and cannot be removed
- Groups can add more access, but they cannot restrict access. For example, if a user is a Content Admin, but belongs to a group with only Enterprise access they will still be able to see the Mane’s repositories and manage content
